Christians Spiritual Heritage 9

Corporate Prayer

Memory verse: Acts 12:5

Introduction: prayer is direct communication with God; corporate prayer is the gathering of believers to ask from God what they want. Jesus taught His disciples how to pray. Through them, He handed down to all believers the basic points of corporate prayer (Matt 6:5-13). Corporate prayers of the early apostles produced strength for the early Church (Acts 4:23-31). It is a great  heritage bequeathed to us, Christians.

From the scriptures matt 6:9; 26:36-38. We know, corporate prayers is practiced y Our Lord Jesus Christ himself. In  Matt 6:9. He taught his disciples to pray in plural language (Our Father in Heaven, Not my father in heaven). In same Matt 26:36-38, we saw He called out some people to pray specifically with Him. Wherefore, we say He Himself, practiced corporate prayer.

From acts 4:25-26 & Matt 18:18-19. We can see. We can actually make corporate prayer more profit. And also raise its flame in our local assembly. We
Also from Matt 6:5-8; Isa 59:1-2. It is very clear, that though corporate prayer is very significant. And its blessedness in in measurable. There’re things, that can actually work against it. For instance sin, unbelief/doubt, lack of oneness of purpose, etc.

In conclusion, corporate prayers are for all season ut especially in times of great danger, when the name of God is at sake.  An individual christains prayer avails much. Ut corporate prayers avails much more (Deut. 32:30). When we pray, we should always acknowledge God as our Father, adore Him, eg for forgiveness, ask for His will, ask for our daily needs and His protection.
Food for thought: corporate prayer increases the power of the church (ody of Christ; local assembly; etc). and helps the church put up a front satan cannot penetrate.
